The Department of Law is located in the modern, bright and well-equipped School of Business, Economics and Law, no. 1 Vasagatan in the Gothenburg city centre (see pictures). Ever since the School of Economics and Commercial Law was founded in 1923 legal education and research has been conducted in Gothenburg. Since 1991 the Department of Law has offered a complete LLM programme, which makes the University of Gothenburg one of the six universities in Sweden that can issue an LLM degree. In recent years the department has expanded and it is steadily growing with new researchers and lecturers joining the staff.
The school has an impressive library with a magnificent reading room. There are 350 study desks and a large number of study and research rooms. The library is a European Documentation Centre (EDC) containing all official EU documents.
